A VITAL AND VANISHING OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE
Being a visual species, we don’t often think about vanishing natural sounds, and people are forgetting how to listen. Creature voices have always been our window to the wild, and we hope that this production will motivate others to protect what’s left of our dwindling Sonoran Desert soundscapes. Noise from our mechanized world has negative effects on wildlife––and on us––in countless ways. It would be a great tragedy if this program were to be the last experience of its kind that most people will ever know.

THIS CAREFULLY DESIGNED PROGRAM was created from hundreds of recordings based on more than 40 years of fieldwork and recording experience by Tucson resident Thomas Wiewandt. To keep the senses focused on listening, only atmospheric visuals appear on-screen, e.g. an afternoon skyscape followed by sunset fading to darkness, moonrise, arrival of a monsoon thunder/lightning storm, etc
